On January 23, we launched SYKY Design Hour, our new series of free virtual sessions tailored to supporting digital fashion designers at every stage of their careers – from beginners to seasoned creators. The first workshop, led by Berlin-based mixed-media expert and SYKY Collective designer Taskin Goec, introduced the fundamentals of 3D design for digital fashion to our audience of 120 SYKY Community members. Open to all levels of experience, the session blends theory with a practical tutorial teaching attendees how to digitize a simple garment in real time using CLO.

The session began with an exploration of the digital fashion landscape, where Goec examined the role of digital designers today. He introduced core design principles – shape, texture, and color – and demonstrated how these elements translate into virtual garments. Goec also walked attendees through industry-standard 3D design tools like CLO, Unreal Engine, and Blender. In addition, he discussed the role of AI in digital fashion, showing how it can streamline workflows, and automate technical tasks to make design processes more efficient.

In the second half of the workshop, Goec led a practical step-by-step for attendees to follow in real-time. The tutorial took attendees through a simple methodfor transforming 2D paper patterns into 3D garments – from creating and importing 2D patterns to assembling the design, adding details like seams, and pockets, and posing and animating the final piece to bring it to life.

The session finished with a Q&A, where Goec emphasized the importance of community, collaboration, and shared resources, encouraging the audience to to connect with fellow designers in SYKY's Discord and share their creations,
